Public Debate Re-cap

The energy of the upcoming presidential election was felt at the Eastern Courthouse, October 9, 2012 as four BUDL high school debaters took the stand to engage in two debates. The first team debated the economic policies of President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. While the second debated whether Barack Obama’s presidency has been helpful to the African American community, Malik Jackson and William Beazer representing Poly and Devin Jackson and Nathan McTeer representing Forest Park delivered excellent speeches. Some of Baltimore’s finest attended the event including the President of the City Council and senior staff from the Great Blacks in Wax Museum. Baltimore city high school students listened from the audience and cast votes for who the team who presented the best argument. Pro-Obama won in both debates, but it was close all-around. Malik, William, Devin and Nathan continue making us proud!
